To sell historic properties, one must have first-hand knowledge of the travails of owning older homes. Over the past 20 years, Andrea Dunlop and her husband, Max, have restored two turn of the century homes in historic West Adams, including a 1906 Dutch Colonial Revival style house in Western Heights they lived in for 14 years. Andrea uses her extensive knowledge of the local Historic Preservation Overlay Zones and tax incentives for restoration, such as the Mills Act, to aid her clients in selecting and maintaining their historic and architectural homes. She also has an elementary school aged daughter, Stella, and knows the ins and outs of the local public schools, including being a founding parent of a local charter school, City Language Immersion Charter (CLIC) in West Adams.
She and her family are now living in the Windsor Square HPOZ, restoring a beautiful 1936 French Normandie style home with the Mills Act.
Andrea was drawn to West Adams and Hancock Park for its rich history and its beautiful architecture, which reminds her of her native North Carolina. She enjoyed serving on her community’s neighborhood council board (UNNC) for eight years and was a member of its economic development and tree committees. Andrea cares deeply for many causes including education, community beautification, and her true passion, animal welfare.
