Local Expertise. Global Connections.
Dena grew up in the oil, wheat, and cattle country of Northeastern Oklahoma and is a graduate of Oklahoma State University. After graduation, and following work in Tulsa, OK for a custom millwork and door company, she married her college sweetheart, Kurt, and proceeded to live the life of a Marine Corps officer's spouse. Their adventures took her and her family coast to coast several times. Beginning in La Jolla, California, Dena worked for SAIC as a manager in the stock programs department while completing an MBA at the University of San Diego. While in California, she fell in love with real estate's investment potential after building a new house and then profitably selling several years later. Her family's next move took Dena to Florida where she focused on renovating a house in the historic district of Tampa's Hyde Park neighborhood. Several moves later - to NC, CA, and finally to DC in 1999 - the family had grown by 4 children and her husband's retirement was looming in 2001. As Dena and her family loved living in the DC metro area, they decided to make Arlington their permanent home. Through the years, Dena has had personal real estate interests in rural land, ranch land, off-grid living, auctions, and rental investment properties. She serves her clients at a higher level by drawing from this wide array of experiences. Each transaction is unique, and Dena proves to be an invaluable resource to solve any challenges that can arise. She is an avid fan of old houses, gardening, beekeeping, and permaculture, while simultaneously appreciating all that city life and modern houses, close to easy, mass transportation offer. She believes that a house is a platform for a well-lived life and should contribute efficiently, effectively, and beautifully toward furthering professional and personal family lifegoals. Dena is an Associate Broker at TTRSIR in McLean and is licensed in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland. Dena enjoys representing clients at all price points, from condos to single-family homes, but especially relishes the challenge of working with and marketing some of the more complicated homes and estates in the area with non-public house systems such as septic, well, and propane/heating oil. Dena has been married for 35 years and is a proud mother to four young adult children: Laurel (Oakcrest/Cornell), Madison (Oakcrest/VT), Jonathan (St. Anselm's Abbey/VT), and Ian (St. Anselm's Abbey/W&M). The Conrad daughters were long-time students at the Washington School of Ballet (lots of Nutcracker performances!) and the Conrad sons were involved with Arlington Judo Club and Boy Scouts. Dena is also a dog mom to two dogs rescued by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA).
