Markus Thoene, Managing Partner of Barcelona & Costa Brava Sotheby’s International Realty, has joined the Sotheby`s International Realty network in 2011 together with his business partner Christoph Toelle bringing in their established network of several luxury real estate offices at the Costa Brava. The launch of the new office in Barcelona is the logical consequence of serving successfully the luxury second residence market on the coast where many Catalan owners of prestigious residences on the coast have established their first residence and demand the same level of service in Barcelona and surroundings. Markus Thoene, a 45 years old native German, has been living in Barcelona since 1993 when he came to live and work in Barcelona “for a few years” after finishing his engineering and business administration studies at the German university of Paderborn. Before joining the Real Estate sector, Thoene, who as well joined a Management development program at the IESE business school and holds a real estate diploma of Universidad de Navarra, spent 13 years related to the automotive and IT consulting sector, where he served in different management positions from Financial Controller to General Manager Area Latina and Professional Services Manager Western Europe in multinational companies until he decided in 2006 to build his own company in Spain together with his business partner, Christoph Toelle.
